I recently saw a little circle with a dot inside in notification area from taskbar.
It quickly said in a message: Your location is currently in use.
Huh. How is that, when i disabled all this things at the installation?
Then after a little searching in settings, then on the web because i had location turned off and just 2-3 apps were on for that.
From what i remember i think i did closed those too (calendar, alarms & clock and weather)... but whatever.
The Windows 10 Location Tracking service, will tell to all apps where your location is even if you know or not.
The thing is simple. Even if you have this settings turned off with all apps, it seems that Microsoft left open to everybody to can access location without telling you. Also letting you with impression that your choices in settings are "final".
So, for ones who have this settings disabled, you should know that any third app (microsoft store, chrome or others) can access your location in a way.
For those who don't know how to do that here is how:
HOW TO TURN OFF LOCATION:
1. SETTINGS -> PRIVACY -> LOCATION
Press Change and set it to OFF.
If Location below that is ON, turn it off before that.
Then:
-> Clear history on this device
-> Clear history on this device
-> Scroll down and put all apps that can use your location to off.
2. SETTINGS -> PRIVACY -> Background apps
Deactivate all apps that you don't want to access location (in this case all of them).
TIP:
I think, if you want to see it in action you can do the following:
Put it to be always ON in notification area. Then, when it will be used, will be shown there. If it is used only for a few seconds... that's it, but if it is used more, it will be shown there as long as it is used not as it is now.
Notificatins & Actions -> Select which icon appear on the taskbar -> Location Notification -> ON
Do you think we really got rid of that? Well, only in theory for our humble minds. They track all they can do. Soon they will track the water inside our body to see where it goes :-))))
We just hope that making this visual settings will do that. So let's chill the mind for a while.
Yes, they will do that for the most apps but not for... the dark side of the mooon! :-) And we are going there here in crypto world, right? Go go!
