I don't know why i heard only once this news till today in some news.
It is not in the media too much here where i am. Don't know why.
But recently i've found again in a post and wanted to know more about how this news stands today.
Well, till 2040 some countries will ban the sale of all gas and diesel cars.
(the order is just by year they pledged to do that):
COUNTRIES plans to apply that:
- Norway (2025)
- India (2030)
- Germany (2030)
- France (2040)
- Britain - UK (2040 - 2050)
- Netherlands (2040)
- China (not announced a year yet)
News stated that:
France: The government announced earlier this month that it wants to end sales of gas and diesel-powered vehicles by 2040 as it fights global warming. India: New Delhi said earlier this year that every vehicle sold in the country should be powered by electricity by 2030.Norway: The government's transportation plan outlines a clear target: All new passenger cars and vans sold in 2025 should be zero-emission vehicles. The others: At least 10 other countries have electric car sales targets in place, according to the International Energy Agency.Austria, China, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, Korea and Spain have set official targets for electric car sales. The United States doesn't have a federal policy, but at least eight states have set out goals.
They are the first to ban fossil fuel burning cars and vans. And there are more who will join that.
PARIS AGREEMENT ON CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION
There is also a climate change agreement, signed by almost 200 nations. It has a common cause, to combat climate change and adapt to its effects.
See more here: The Paris Agreement - main page
Obviously, America, with Trump's decision is out of that treaty: United States withdrawal from the Paris Agreement - Wikipedia
They are not part of this world, they live alone (meaning, their politicians)... as lot of recent demonstrations from other politicians or bank owners:
Two examples of US politicians greed:
CAR MANUFACTURERS
Also, almost all car manufacturers are already going with this trend.
Volvo was the first major automaker to publicly set a date for going only with electric cars, this year in july (2017).
The first who will do that are:
- 2019 - Volvo Car Group will produce only electric cars (hybrid and fully battery powered).
- 2020 - Jaguar Land Rover will follow
- 2025 - Volkswagen - VW said will be leader in electric vehicles
- 2050 - Toyota
VOLVO
TOYOTA and MAZDA
TOKYO (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp said on Friday it planned to take a 5 percent share of smaller Japanese rival Mazda Motor Corp, as part of an alliance that will see the two build a $1.6 billion U.S. assembly plant and work together on electric vehicles.
That move expect to generate up to 4,000 jobs and annual capacity of 300,000 units.
“There will be new rivals appearing - Apple, Google - these are IT companies, we also need to compete with them, too,” Toyota President Akio Toyoda, grandson of the company’s founder, told a news conference in Tokyo.
TOYOTA pioneered gasoline-electric hybrids but also had long resisted battery-only cars.
Also, they were investing heavily in hydrogen fuell-cell vehicles (FCVs), while competitors were gone entirely on pure electric cars to be the most viable zero-emission vehicles (like Nissan Motor Co, Volkswagen AG and Tesla).
TESLA
Short story for the ones who doesn't know about that:
Here we speak all about electric cars, energy storage and solar panel manufacturer. Company that is based in Palo Alto, California. The name cames from Serbian electrical engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla.
In 2008 they released their first car and since today they are at their 3d model (Model S, Model X and Model 3).
Having Mr. Elon Musk as the CEO since 2008, Tesla ranked as the world's second best selling manufacturer.
quote:
Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
Tesla builds not only all-electric vehicles but also infinitely scalable clean energy generation and storage products. Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better.

Renault - Nissan
They made an announcement in 2009 regardind a 4 billion budget plan to spend on electric car development.

September, 2017 Renault, Nissan & Mitsubishi alliance announced plans for the 2022 synergy strategy. And some bad news with a VW attempt to avoid tests:
In 2015 the Volkswagen (VW) tried to cheat on diesel emissions tests for diesel emissions but they were finally admitting in 2015 that:
quote here:
In September, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that many VW cars being sold in America had a "defeat device" - or software - in diesel engines that could detect when they were being tested, changing the performance accordingly to improve results. The German car giant has since admitted cheating emissions tests in the US.

General thoughts and problems.
Clean energy and electric cars has been a long debate and quietly or not the movement has its results now and in the near future.
France was among the first countries to declare that this year. They said will also stop to use coal to produce electricity by 2020 and will ban all new exploitation for petrol, coal and natural gas.
The biggest problem for that is to create infrastructure.
Because without it you can't do much with electric cars. There are signs that it will rapidly grow and with all these regulations regarding "green" cars, it will really start.
I'm questioning also, what will happen with old infrastructure? Can be used for something else or just remain there?
China, having its big problems with pollution in major cities, is marching to use only electric vehicles but with no annouced date.
In US is not so much appetite so far (said in news), but things are growing slowly for the moment. Although, i saw this year 3 youtubers (without searching for it) using Tesla cars and showing current problems but also benefits. As so many important changes tend to stay hidden, soon will have a sudden booming start.
Europe - here are started the penalties for combustion engines (driving and parking restrictions) and some benefits as subsidies for green cars.
Another current problem is, the employees all over the world.
Now more than 600,000 jobs only in Germany could be at risk (and so many in other places). How many of them will keep their jobs?
Also, (quote):
Germany's three major carmakers have also invested heavily in diesel technology, which offers more efficient fuel burn and lower carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline-powered cars. In response to the British decision, a German government spokeswoman said on Wednesday Merkel had repeatedly warned against "demonising" diesel vehicles.
Additional energy - and a lot of it
Having this big consumption of electricity, there will be needed additional electric power generation. And not just big... HUGE generation and also big infrastructure.
Few states can handle such a big change. And what about the countries that will not have electric charging stations?
If most of the countries will shutdown fossil oil based cars, what the price will be for gas or diesel in those countries?
How will they survive to that change?
Autonomy & Charging
From todays autonomy with no infrastructure can't go too much without recharging. TESLA andTOYOTA have some big news regarding batteries.
and the high speed charging
PRICES
Prices for electric vehicles are still not affordable to common people. Even in this case, Tesla Model is reserved before its production,
By August 2017, there were 455,000 net reservations, and an average of 1,800 additional being added per day source: Tesla Model 3 - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_3
But here, when it goes at a mass production obviously will fall enough. And till then, governments say that they will support part of that.
and, after Stanford economist Tony Seba:
“Instead of spending $10,000 a year for road transportation, a family might spend only $1,000,” Seba says. “It will make no rational economic sense to own a car, because it will be so cheap to hail an autonomous electric vehicle.” source: Electric Cars May Rule the World’s Roads by 2040 http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/09/electric-cars-replace-gasoline-engines-2040/
So, it really happens. I've made a project in my final year in the faculty, regarding water fueled engine by General Motors and it was something about electrical ones too. That was in 2003.
I can't wait to see how things will work and how that big pledges will become true.
